Everyone I encountered was friendly and nice. I will be going back.

The trails are awesomely-designed and well-maintained, but I wish they were labeled better. I wish there were maps at trailheads, labeled you are here, or the trails were marked with icons, arrows, colors, or something. I didn't like stopping to pull out my cell phone to figure out where I was. Wish the trails offered a better method or navigation. That's also a testament to how vast and wide the trail system is at Smithville Lake.

Awesome single tracks with minimal rocks. Turn and burn baby!

Superb hiking, biking trails, all around a beautiful lake. Great little escape for a family day.

I love this area. There are several miles of single dirt trails open only to bicycles and hikers that branch off of the several miles of paved trails. My favorite single track is Neale's trail. It's a little over two miles long and it's a bluff above the shoreline of the lake. There are wild flowers in the forest from about March to October and the colors in the fall are killer. In the winter there are unobstructed views of the lake. There are tons of birds, even eagles in the winter. It's my happy spot. Neale's trail is rated extremely difficult so if you're biking, be ready for steep drop offs and uneven drops in spots. Wear good hiking shoes if you walk it. Go slowly and look around. It's a gorgeous spot.

Also, there was some geese are they slow you down and make a mess of the trails. Be prepared.

Great trailhead for the Smithville lake mountain bike trails. It has a large parking lot and well maintained pit toilets. The trails themselves are not extremely technical, but they are flowy and fun.
